Letter from the Chapter

To our potential new members,

I’m so glad you’re here! Welcome to the beginning of your collegiate years. Just as your time in high school has flown by, this time in your life will go by faster than you anticipate. I encourage you to take on every opportunity you are given with patience and optimism. As you settle into your new surroundings, push yourself to get out of your comfort zone. Trust me, I understand how that may be easier said than done. I was once in your place, unsure of what the next four years would hold. But I can assure you, you are right where you are supposed to be.

As the Vice President of Membership Experience here at Tri Delta Kappa Chapter, it is my job to make your recruitment experience memorable and fulfilling. I would first like to thank you for getting this far. Taking the time to consider the recruitment process takes courage in itself. I remember wondering if a sorority was a place for someone like me. Instead, I found that a sorority was less about fitting the mold and more about finding a place that pours into you.

Tri Delta was founded over 130 years ago around the values of truth, self-sacrifice, and friendship. Today, we continue to uphold these ideals by maintaining our commitment to academic success, pursuing philanthropic events, and maintaining lifelong friendships. What makes our chapter so special, is that we are not Tri Delta without each and every one of our members. In Tri Delta, I have found a place that celebrates individuality and personal growth. Although I will always be a Tri Delta, I am my own person first. This chapter emphasizes the importance of maintaining who you are and striving for who you want to be. In doing this, we have created a sisterhood of diverse beliefs, personalities, and interests, that when combined create the heart of Tri Delta.

During the recruitment process you will be told to find a place that feels like home. However, I also believe you should find a place that equally challenges you. Look for the women who hold you to a high standard but that will also be there to lend a hand. My wish for you is that you find a place to support you in all of your endeavors. And just as it was for me, I hope that place is here at Tri Delta. I’ll be counting down the days until I get to meet you on the front steps of 1601 R Street. On that day, bring you. There is no one better.
